TheGearFitter was created by Marc Seidel and Christian, two sports enthusiasts who wanted a simpler and more practical way to choose sports gear.
There are many websites with long reviews, buying guides and top 10 lists. Some of them are useful, but often they still leave you with the same question:
But does this gear actually fit me?
That is the question TheGearFitter tries to answer.
Why We Built TheGearFitter
When looking for sports equipment, we often found plenty of information about brands, technologies, materials and price levels. What was missing was a simple tool that starts with the person using the gear.
For example, when buying football boots, the most important question is not only whether a boot is popular. It is whether the boot fits your foot width, your playing surface and your level.
The same idea applies to other sports. The correct ski length depends on height, weight, ability and skiing style. Running shoes depend on use, fit, cushioning and foot needs. Bike size depends on body measurements and riding style.
Some online fitters exist, especially for bikes, but we missed a broader sports gear fitting platform. That is why we started TheGearFitter.
What TheGearFitter Does
TheGearFitter helps you narrow down sports gear based on practical fit factors instead of only marketing claims.
Our goal is to build useful fitters for different sports, starting with football boots and expanding into areas such as ski length, ski boots, running shoes, bike sizing and more.
Each fitter is designed to answer practical questions such as:
- Which football boots fit narrow, medium or wide feet?
- Should I choose AG, FG or MG football boots?
- Which ski length makes sense for my height, weight and ability?
- Which type of running shoe is suitable for my use?
- What bike size should I start with before comparing models?
The idea is simple: better decisions before you buy.
How Our Recommendations Work
Our recommendations are based on structured product information, fit logic and real buying considerations.
For football boots, for example, we look at factors such as:
- Foot width
- Toe box shape
- Volume and lockdown
- Playing surface
- AG, FG, MG or turf suitability
- Player level
- Boot tier, such as Academy, Pro or Elite
- Practical value for players and parents
We do not want to recommend a boot only because it is popular. A football boot that does not fit your foot cannot be the best boot for you, no matter how strong the marketing is.
That is why our fitters start with fit, surface, and use case first. Brand, color, and hype come after that.
Research Based, Not Fake Hands On Reviews
Many websites call everything a review, even when the product was not actually tested. We want to be clear about that.
Most product pages on TheGearFitter are research based. We use available product information, brand specifications, retailer data, user feedback, and practical fit logic to build structured gear profiles.
If we personally test a product, we will clearly mark it as hands on tested. If a page is research based, we will not pretend otherwise.
Affiliate Links and Transparency
TheGearFitter may use affiliate links in the future. This means that if you click a link and buy a product, we may receive a small commission.
This does not change the price you pay.
Affiliate links help support the site, but they do not decide which products we include or recommend. Our goal is to build useful, honest and practical fitters first. If a cheaper Pro football boot makes more sense than an expensive Elite model, we will say so.
Our Approach
TheGearFitter is built around a simple idea:
Fit first. Marketing second.
We believe sports gear should be chosen based on the person using it. Your foot shape, body measurements, surface, level and real use matter more than a slogan on a product page.
The site will continue to grow with more fitters, more gear profiles and more practical guides. The goal is not to replace expert fitting in a shop, but to give you a much better starting point before you buy.
Who TheGearFitter Is For
TheGearFitter is for players, parents and sports enthusiasts who want practical help before spending money on gear.
It is especially useful if you have ever asked questions such as:
- Which football boots actually fit my feet?
- Are Pro football boots enough or do I need Elite?
- Should my child use AG or FG boots?
- What ski length should I choose?
- Which gear makes sense for my level?
That is what we are building. A practical sports gear fitting platform that helps you find gear that actually fits.
